Saratoga Golf - Our review of Airway Meadows
We have never had a bad day at Airway Meadows, and we
have played the course at least a dozen times over the past three
seasons. Located in Gansevoort halfway between Lake George and Saratoga,
Airway Meadows is easily accessible from the Northway, points east and,
of course, from the air!
Joan and Jamie Heber did the general golfing public a grand favor when
they decided to share their passion for golf by carving their farm into
an arrangement of 18 magnificent and challenging holes. The adjacent
landing strip and skydiving school may appeal to those who don't find
golf enough of a challenge. We prefer however, the tidy 19th hole with
its pleasing assortment of malt beverages
The fairways and greens are routinely in excellent shape. The rough
deserves its name and the "out of bounds" is reserved for the owners'
and neighbors' grazing cows. Two par 3's cross gullies in which reside
families of Mulligans (it seems so simple when you are standing on the
tee). The dog leg par 5 is a fun hole once you realize that the green
is, in fact, well to your left and requires your third shot (if playing
in regulation) over another gully.
The back nine is more suited to walkers than the front. But the front
nine, as it plays parallel to the airport's macadam, affords the
opportunity for extra distance when your errant tee shot rockets off the
runway surface.
The course's covered bridges, its pastoral setting and the cool friendly
beverages at the course's end make golfing at Airway Meadows a pleasing
adventure. (Some of our balls enjoyed the course so much that they
remain there to this day.) Dive, fly or drive…any way you get there,
Airway Meadows is worth the trip

The greens are immaculate, the fairways friendly, and the roughs are, well, rough. Add in the covered bridges, the airstrip bisecting holes 2 and 8, and the people friendly tavern; and you have award winning Airway Meadows Golf Club. Come see what everyone’s talking about. Once you do, you’ll keep coming back.
